Below are current internship opportunities still available in various COMMUNICATIONS fields through Global Experience in SYDNEY, DUBLIN, FLORENCE and NEW YORK CITY.   They place students in complete experiential education programs by providing internship procurement/monitoring, accommodations, social excursions, travel/medical insurance and career development services. The names of the host employers are not listed because of confidentiality agreements that shield them from unsolicited inquiry. They work with hiring managers to pre-qualify “best fit” interns for their current and ongoing needs.

One of Dublin’s most popular non-profit stations has an internship available for a dedicated media student who has passion for the progressive mission of community public radio.  The successful candidate can be either news or music oriented in their interests, but must also have writing, voicing, computer and other technical skills.  Typical duties could include the daily production of an events calendar, the production of public service announcements, program editing and general production assistance for permanent show hosts.  Fund raising, development, and general office administration assistance is also a part of the internship.  REQUIREMENTS:  2.8 GPA, sophomore class standing, and a diverse array of writing, digital production, and broadcasting skill sets. Air check samples required for program acceptance.

Two of Dublin’s finest theatres seek publicity assistants to help with efforts to secure local and national publicity from newspapers, radio & TV stations, and bloggers.  Duties include writing press releases, securing press coverage, and using (your) rhetorical prowess and interpersonal charm to get critics to come to shows.   REQUIREMENTS: Junior class standing, journalism & PR class work and a strong personality (with tenacity) a must.  A “thick skin” is required to deal with many massive egos and overly dramatic situations.

Several of Dublin’s top music clubs are seeking interns to help with their club management and marketing efforts.   This is a not a “late night” position. Rather, the internship requires you to assist club management with their daily operations in every aspect… typically involved in marketing, promotion, and assisting bands with equipment load-in, sound check, and other aspects of venue hospitality. However, attendance of some late night concert events might occasionally be required.  REQUIREMENTS Age 20, junior class standing.  A background in advertising and promotions would be extremely helpful.  Concert production would also be a big plus.  Another preferred credential is graphic design abilities to assist with poster creation and website maintenance.

This newspaper is an on-line and paper magazine in Florence. Written in English, it is an important informational resource to assist tourists and English-speaking inhabitants of the city. Participants in their internship program will have the opportunity to write stories and take photos that will be published with by-line credit.   This is a phenomenal opportunity to work professionally with Florentine press offices and develop close professional relationships with the local community.  The internship is ideal for those exploring the fields of Journalism, Photojournalism, Film-Making, Art History, Theatre and Cinema. This internship has a “flex time” component to it.   A large portion of the job is self-directed work covering events /exhibits in the field, and then writing them up. The remaining time is spent with office supervisors and other interns on the reporting team.  REQUIREMENTS: Sophomore class standing, a 3.1 GPA and a background in journalism (arts, feature, news) and/or photography.

NEW YORK CITY  -  DIGITAL AD AGENCY  (VIDEO EDITING, PHOTOGRAPHY, PRODUCTION ASSISTANT) Digital Ad Agency with a bespoke approach develops I-phone aps, websites, and works with high profile bloggers.  They offer strategic direction, creative services, bespoke website and iPhone production, social media management & content creation. The THREE POSITIONS they offer are:

1) PHOTOGRAPHY-Street digital photography and assistant for hired professional photographers.

2) VIDEO EDITING-Final Cut Pro, Adobe Creative Suites, Apple Keynote or I-Work skills needed.

3) PRODUCTION ASST-All around assistant, guerilla street team, etc.

This is a phenomenal opportunity for a classically trained musician interested in fine arts journalism to do high level work at a national culture/leisure magazine.  In the alternative, this placement could also suite a journalism student with knowledge of the fine arts.  In this highly competitive placement, the selected intern will work directly with the editor-in-chief on tasks relating to classical music review writing, editing attending other performing/fine events in Australia. REQUIREMENTS: Junior class standing, 3.3GPA and a combination of feature writing/editorial abilities with substantial knowledge of classical music and fine arts.

This full service PR agency offers a wide variety of client services including strategic PR & publicity, media training, product placement, media & third party promotions, and crisis/reputation management.  Interns are responsible for taking care of a variety of administrative tasks including  updating media lists, tracking client coverage, preparing coverage reports for clients, note taking at client meetings, compiling media packs and assisting with any other client  requirements as they arise.   REQUIREMENTS: Junior class standing, PR class work and strong organizational skills.
