Communications Coordinator

Position Summary
Reporting to the executive director, the communications coordinator of Overton Park Conservancy will be responsible for the development and execution of the Conservancy’s communication strategies. By using a variety of communications tools, the communications coordinator will promote public awareness of Overton Park Conservancy’s mission, brand, projects, programs, events and activities. This position will collaborate with staff to continually inform volunteers, members, donors, supporters, and the media, and will support the Conservancy’s operations, events, programs and development efforts.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Park Revitalization & Fundraising
Work with executive director to develop and implement communications plan
Develop and maintain relationships with local media; serve as liaison between Conservancy staff and media
Produce content for press releases, talking points, speeches, presentations, printed materials, email newsletters and online communications; broadly deliver content through a variety of communication vehicles; identify and champion new communication vehicles
Keep Conservancy’s website and social media accounts updated with relevant content; actively
engage social media contacts
Represent Conservancy at public events; give presentations to community groups and associations
Oversee development of all print communications, including marketing collateral materials; manage relationships with associated vendors
Develop effective sponsorship materials for Conservancy’s events, projects and programs
Support Conservancy’s operations, events and programs by developing and disseminating messages to media, supporters and general public through a variety of channels
Serve as staff support for operations, office administration, events and programs as needed
Qualification Requirements
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, public administration or other related field
A minimum of 3 years of experience in communications, marketing, or public relations
Demonstrated superior written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated knowledge of communications industry, including current print and social media trends

This is a full-time position requiring occasional evening and frequent weekend work. Work is largely performed in an office environment. However, it will be necessary for the employee to tour the park and attend events. This requires walking, standing, and carrying materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
