Description: The University of Memphis, an equal opportunity employer, is seeking a highly qualified candidate to fill the position of Multimedia Specialist in the Department of Athletic Media Relations.
The primary function of the Multimedia Specialist is to provide continuous new video/audio/social media content for the Athletic Department website, YouTube, Twitter and Facebook platforms as well as to promote to local, regional and national media outlets for the purpose of gaining additional attention for the university, the Athletic Department and the student-athlete. The position will also serve as a media relations contact for one or more sports to be determined. The position is supervised by the Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations.
Responsibilities: Coordinating creative video content and shooting, editing and creating unique video packages and press conferences to convey concepts; Writing and posting relevant news releases and/or text content to include with videos to GoTigersGo.com; Assisting the other members of the Athletic Media Relations department at various Athletic events and handling post-game press conference videos; Maintaining social media accounts for Athletic Media Relations on Twitter, Facebook, etc.; Supervising two student assistants and assisting in coordinating weekly production meetings with entire media relations staff in developing unique and new video content specifically for website; As the contact for one or more sports, the candidate will write press releases, compile and distribute weekly game notes and will maintain the sport’s pre-season fact book and the post-season yearbook.
Qualifications: Requires a bachelor’s degree in broadcasting, communication, journalism, public relations or a similar field and at least one year experience in a Division I collegiate athletic department setting.
All finalists for this position will be required to submit samples of written and video/audio work during the interview. Applicant must be able to provide on and off camera work samples via links or DVD showing the ability to edit and produce video packages as well as samples of interviewing skills.
Excellent communication and organizational skills and proficiency in desktop publishing (InDesign) and Photoshop preferred.
